Triburbana Prayer Weekend

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Prayerroomcross-1We hosted 48 hours of prayer in our shopfront this past weekend. I think it went well. It was stretching at times, but I think we all took advantage of the time to be able to pray and focus on God.We also had a great time getting everything ready this past week.We had a community work day on Sunday (pictures to follow). Then a few of us spent a lot of time down there throughout the week putting on the finishing touches. We ended up having the big front part of it covered in paper and offered different focuses (the world, Europe, Spain, Sevilla, Triburbana). Then in between we had a cross/communion station and a back bit for praying for specific friends and family. Hope to get some pictures of the weekend up somewhere at some point.A couple of mission teams from the US also participated. I hope they had a good time. I introduced them to the place and to 24-7 Prayer, but that was about all that I saw of them.We still don’t have electricity or water (good motives for prayer?) in the shopfront, but who needs those two things to pray, right? We’ll see what comes of it in the near future.I might post some more thoughts here if I feel a real urge to. I’ll probably also talk about it a little bit more in our next newsletter. If you haven’t already, you should sign up!

Jim is home safe and sound…

As I mentioned in my last post, Jim broke his wrist the day before yesterday and had to have corrective surgery last night. He’s home now and on the mend…

Jimbo

Might as well kick this little series of with the best that I have to offer (outside of Heather obviously). Jim is an Englishman who came to Sevilla about 3 summers ago (is it really 3? Seems like 1!!!) to lead a 24-7prayer short term mission team. While he was here, he felt like Sevilla might be a place where he could hang around for a while… so he did! He came back the next winter and started learning Spanish.

Since then, he’s grown to be part of our family and I honestly have trouble conceiving of life here without Jim in it. He’s probably the best mate a guy could ask for. He like exercise, computers, football, movies, music, cooks well and is pretty easy going. Ladies, he’s single. Leave requests for his number in the comments! Any ladies feeling like they want to move to Seville will get preference. he he he…

Jimbo2He cooked an absolutely fantastic indian curry extravaganza for my birthday for which I’ll be forever grateful. It took him the better part of three days to cook 5 dishes plus poppodums. One of the things I like most about Jim is that he doesn’t do anything half-way. He has to really throw himself into it or just not do it at all. Three days to cook a meal! Wow!

He’s recently taken a TOEFL course and started teaching english as a second language at a local academy. Before that he worked at a local bar in which he was the only heterosexual male in the place. He had some stories to tell (no offense)!

De la tribu…

TribeI’ve been wanting to add a category onto this blog for a while that highlights different people here in Sevilla that I consider part of my “tribu” or tribe (if you are a church growth geek, read oikos or household). Some of them believe in Jesus, still others choose to actually follow him and some don’t know what they think or don’t believe at all. None of these things change the fact that these people are in or out of my tribe. These are simply people that I am influenced by and whom Jesus is hopefully influencing through me. I won’t be categorizing these people, because my mind doesn’t really work that way.

At any rate, watch this space… If I get inspired enough, I’ll do the first entry in the category tomorrow.
