Having had a reasonable amount

Having had a reasonable amount of time to read this summer has given me a bit of time to get through a couple of books.
The best one, by far, is a book by Philip Yancey (one of my favourite authors) called Soul Survivor. It is a book that chronicles his journey of faith from being brought up in a legalistic racist southern fundamentalist church, rejecting his faith in his late teens as a result of what he had seen and experienced of Christianity in his childhood and then a slow cautious journey back to Jesus in his 20’s.
In the book, he profiles various authors and public figures that helped gave him hope of a “life enhancing” faith instead of a “life contricting” faith. The people mentioned in the book include: G.K. Chesterton, Feodor Dostoevsky, Shusaku Endo, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr. and John Donne.
As a result of this book, I am going to try and read some books by these guys during this year. I got to read snippets of their writing in this book and really liked what i saw. I’ve even set up a wishlist on Amazon.co.uk with the books I would like to read. Check it out if you are feeling generous! Just click on the “wishlist” link and then do a search for my username, “submision@terra.es”.
