Back again! Things are going

Back again!

Things are going well in Ibiza. The team is really meshing and we are all getting along really well. It is a real priviledge to be with such quality people in such a needy place. You get the feeling that you are in an episode of the A-Team or something. A small select group against unbelievable odds… Putting together something that will somehow turn the tide of darkness that is all around… Pretty cool!

It would be great if you could take a minute today and pray for us… We have a lot of needs in the coming days that we really need God to come thru on:

1. We really feel like it is essential this year to have a prayer room closer to where the people are at. We want a place where we can pray, invite local churchgoers to pray and also the clubbers on the island to come and encounter God. It would be fantastic to have that right in the middle of a pre and post-cubbing strip on the west side of the island called the “Sunset Strip”. We have a possible connection in a big bar called “Savannah”. You could pray that God would give us favor to be able to set up one of the bar’s back rooms as a prayer room. The bar in question is pictured in the blog entry before this.

2. We are also going to be trying for various permits to be able to promote events on the island. We need to get these thru the island’s government. Can be tricky and we will definitely be depending on God to get thru all the loopholes at the right time.

3. We also need you to pray for various members of our team in Sevilla. Some of us are doing really well, but others are really struggling financially and spiritually. Please pray for those guys! Can’t really share anymore details than that.

We have started meeting daily

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

We have started meeting daily as a team to pray in the prayer room upstairs… It gives us a good focus for the day and is quite refreshing. At the moment we only meet for 30 min., but it is a great start. Each day of the week has a different focus & everyday a different team member leads…

Meeting this morning went well

Meeting this morning went well at the university. A language course that actually helps you to LEARN TO SPEAK is really challenging, but i think we can do it…

just read this:

“Charlotte Beers, the high-profile advertising executive brought in by the Bush administration to help boost America’s image overseas (especially the Arab world), is calling it quits. The only executive to have served as chairman of two of the top 10 worldwide advertising agencies, Beers acknowledged the difficulty of the task last week. “The gap between who we are and how we wish to be seen and how we are in fact seen, is frighteningly wide,” she said …”

I think she lasted about 3 months in the post… Does that send chills down your spine?

In another internet cafe

Tuesday, June 24th, 2003

watchin the sun come up is a clubbing ritual In another internet cafe today that is a ton better. No screaming teenagers and it seems that all have bathed in the last 24 hrs.

Went and picked up a friend of ours named Ian from the airport. He is the leader of 24-7’s mission teams branch and is in town to hang with us for a few days.

I have had a tuf time finding a place to plug in the ol’ laptop to be able to work a little bit more effectively… but such is life. Hopefully get to get online and download all my emails. Til then all those email with attachements and stuff will have to wait to be read. Oh well!

Slept a ton better last night. Got up, piddled aroud our little apartment for an hour or so and then went and washed there car and did some shopping. Got some food and stuff and then went to have a meeting with the Ibiza team leadership team. Probably have a chilled out evening today as the next two nights we will be out at parties and meeting people.

Writing to you from a

Writing to you from a smelly internet cafe filled with young spaniards playing some crazy first person shooter game… Only think is they are loud and they have that adolescent smell of not having washed for a few days…

We’ve arrived to Ibiza without problems. I am sooo wasted. I need to get some sleep. We had to sleep with Kati in our room the night before last. She was a total muppet. Really buggin’. Needless to say, i slept about 3 hours after having driven for 8 hours the day before. Then last night we were out til about 1.30 in the morning and then church this morning. I have to say that I ditched the first half hour of the service cause I was badly in need of a coffee. hee hee!

We are staying at a totally sweet place in the country where we have our own bedroom with private entrance, a bathroom and a little kitchen. Very happy about that. There is a fence around the entire house so Keti is pretty happy runnin’ around like a nuthead and chasing lizards.

Tonight we are going to pick up a friend at the airport then we’ll probably head to somewhere that’s got a TV so we can see the last game of the football season over here.

I’ll write about my first impressions of Ibiza later on… Time’s almost up!

We are heading to Ibiza

We are heading to Ibiza on Friday morning. We’ll be there for almost a month and a half. For more info on the island and the mission team that we’ll be chillin with, click here

We get on a ferry in a town called Dénia where we have some Dutch friends working with YWAM and the Baptist Church there. We’re gonna stay with them on Friday night and then get up early to catch the first ferry out to the island.

Keep checking back here for more updates!
