Kati split my lip open

Thursday, January 30th, 2003

Kati split my lip open today and almost knocked out one of my teeth. I kid you not! We weren’t even boxing or anything. We were up on the roof with Jim and I was kneeling down holding her when all of a sudden she moved her head bruskly backwards and slammed into my upper lip. Ahhh! She has a harder head than I do. It was painful. I look like she got a pretty good left hook in. I hope the swelling goes down by next week.

I am heading to Barcelona next Monday with Jim. I’m speaking on PostModern Young People and the Church at a YWAM course. Should be exciting.

Finally found some spray fixative that should help us hang up paper on the walls in the prayer room upstairs. The walls are cement and when we tried with a staple gun… the wall said, “ha ha, whatever”. It is a bit frustrating.

Heather and I went to a sort of famous Catholic community this weekend with our friend Juan Antonio. He lived there for a year in about 1993 or so…

It was a pretty interesting experience. There were a wide range of people there from very devout catholics to agnostics, to visiting curious atheists/not interested in God. It was cool to see them interacting and living together.

I had the opportunity to talk with a few of them about 24-7prayer about which they were very curious. I hope they check out the site and we have a chance to dialogue further about future ventures.

I was thinking that you all might like to know that Kati has taken up boxing. I am her sparring partner and I have to say that she is pretty good. She wins most of the time. I think it has something to do with the fact that her teeth are sharper than mine so when she goes for the Mike Tysonesque ear bit it actually works.

It is slightly disturbing that I am getting beaten up by an 8 month old puppy.

I studied spanish traffic code

Friday, January 24th, 2003

I studied spanish traffic code until 2am last night. It might have done something strange to my sanity. Would you believe that there are no laws (that I have read thus far) that prohibit roadside littering? It is only prohibited if it BLOCKS THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC or is ON FIRE! That explains a lot.

Been working on putting a prayer room on the building of the building where we live. The owners have given us a little room up there to set up a prayer room, so we are going for it. Jim had to do a daring dive thru a window over the door to the room to get it open as the handle was broken off. It was touch and go for a few seconds and we wondered if he was going to make it thru in one piece, but he did.

Also had a wierd thing happen as a lady showed up this morning from the US just wanting to pray with us. It was a bit random and cool. But we prayed together and she gave us an offering of 100 euros which we badly needed to get through this month. Cool, eh?
